CBC is searching for a Video Journalist to join the Central Newfoundland news
team stationed in Gander. Under the guidance of the Executive Producer of News,
the Video Journalist will research, gather, shoot, write, edit video-tape and
voice scripts to produce news and feature stories for all CBC News programming
platforms.

You possess:
  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated journalistic experience including
    daily news reporting and demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and NL news
    and current affairs.
  • Ability to operate camera and edit, plus proven
    track record of developing and breaking news and current affairs reports.
  • Proven experience in television reporting from
    the field; experience reporting in radio would be an asset. Demonstrated
    ability to operate video, audio and editing equipment, plus general
    ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated interviewing and writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license plus the ability to
    travel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; ability to work
    in a high pressure, deadline conscious deadline environment; unexpected
    additional hours are often required.
  • Must have the ability to work in a multi-platform
    news environment and providing distinctive visuals in support of
    television, radio and the web.
  • Must be able to work in a bureau environment
    where it is necessary to work independently as well as part of the program
    team.
  • A commitment to excellence in broadcast
    journalism; strong and creative presentation skills. On-air credibility.
  • Strong organizational skills plus innovation,
    flexibility, and the ability to be a self-starter.
  • Highly developed and varied visual story-telling
    ability plus excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
