Radio-Canada recently obtained a ruling from the Canadian Industrial Relations
Board (CIRB) that will allow it to review its union structure and therefore
adopt a different approach in the next round of negotiations.

This position
includes several concepts and challenges that will exceed the expectations of
applicants who have a passion for labour relations. Complex and sophisticated
issues faced by an organization in transformation, democratization of work
tools, technological advancement, reorganization of production methods,
organizational redesign – these are a few of the challenges that come with
Radio-Canada’s industrial relations, and they require a complete review of our
collective agreements, as well as a review of our bargaining unit structure.

enthusiastic group of people to meet the challenges of our environment.


Your Mandate

Reporting to the
Director, Industrial Relations, as Senior Consultant, Industrial Relations, you
are responsible for administering and interpreting collective agreements in
your purview. You are also responsible for renewal of your assigned collective
agreements, as well as settlement of any grievances in your assigned units. You
draft, document, and present issues, as well as propose solutions to Industrial
Relations management.

You develop,
recommend, and implement guidelines collective agreement consistency and
administration guidelines based on short- and long-term objectives, and also in
light of Corporation business realities.

The Senior
Consultant, Industrial Relations assists in carrying out ad hoc mandates, and
is responsible for representing management at grievance committee or
union-management committee meetings about a variety of topics, as well as in
conciliation and mediation situations. Lastly, you establish and maintain
business relations with unions.


You possess:

•10 years’ proven
experience as a labour relations expert in a unionized environment, with
involvement in a number of bargaining certificates including jurisdictional
disputes
•Experience working with large-scale organizations in periods of transformation
(democratization of work tools, technological advancement, reorganization of
production methods, organizational redesign, sales/acquisitions, etc.)
•Involved in renewal of a number of collective agreements in a complex,
shifting environment
•Strategic thinker able to apply creative solutions, highly skilled negotiator,
persuasive and able to influence others
•Solid communicator (able to synthesize, in both written and spoken form);
•Easily able to build interpersonal relationships in order to establish
business relations with clients, colleagues, and union representatives
•Excellent writing skills (issue summaries, settlement agreements, etc.), with
minute attention to detail and rigour in drafting reports and analyses under
tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
•Experience establishing effective corporate communications strategies
•Experience with sophisticated and aggressive union mobilization activities
•Well organized and able to document several matters at once under tight
deadlines
•Leadership, fostering team spirit, coaching, and the ability to work easily
without supervision
•In-depth knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and federal labour legislation
•In-depth knowledge of the dynamics of the various administrative tribunals
(CIRB, board of arbitration, etc.)
•Knowledge of the telecommunications industry an asset
•Proficient with the MS Office suite
•Written and spoken French; working knowledge of English
