As a Reporter/ Editor, your primary objective is to
perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing
and presentation of program material for all three of our media platforms:
Radio, Television and the Web. You will develop and maintain contact with a
variety of sources as well as work in close co-operation with your program
unit. You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and
reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of facts and
information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further
investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts, and program content.
You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present
information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other
production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of
the newsroom, program unit or station. Your work will be governed by CBC’s
journalistic and broadcasting policy and protocols.

The successful candidate will report for all editorial

Two (2) temporary positions
You possess:
- Journalism degree and/or university degree in a
related field, e.g. political science - Three years’ directly related experience
- Excellent reporting, interviewing and live
stand-up skills, and highly adept at using social media from the field - Ability to generate and develop story ideas and
scoops - Fully bilingual in French and English (spoken and
written) - Knowledge of affairs pertaining to the Alberta
Franco community issues - Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and
programming policies - Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming
- Ability to work with a variety of teams
- Critical mind
- Proven ability to work in a high-stress,
tight-deadline environment - Experience working on multiple projects
simultaneously - Understanding of the public broadcaster’s role
and responsibilities - Valid driver’s licence
- May be called upon to do various roles within the
newsroom - May be required to work mornings, evenings and
weekends
