Your challenge:
You must have the

We are looking for a
reporter/editor to join our Toronto team bringing traffic reports to our
listeners, each weekday morning and each weekday afternoon. The growing commute
to and from work is one of the most stressful here, in Canada’s largest city
for hundreds-of-thousands of people. Traffic congestion is one of the top
issues for many who call Toronto home.
This assignment is a
split-shift working both morning and afternoon drive, delivering up to date,
traffic reports every 10 minutes on both Metro Morning and Here and Now. The
job includes daily research, editing, gathering, writing and coordination of
information for traffic to be presented on the air. You will be the
“voice” of traffic on Metro Morning and Here and Now and, as such,
you will deliver the traffic survival information to Torontonians in an
engaging and informative manner.
Please note this is a one-year contract position.

The successful candidate for this position will have the following:
•University Degree
or equivalent
•Three years’ experience in journalism
•Demonstrated reporter skills for radio
•Strong on-air performance
•We are looking for an energetic and engaging presence on-air and an ability to
ad lib
•Demonstrated ability to tell radio stories using a variety of treatments
(paks, soundscapes, talk-tapes, mini docs, streeters)
•Demonstrated writing skills for radio news and information
•Self-starter and highly motivated to tell community based stories and deliver
vital community and survival information
•Demonstrated organizational skills, a team player and strong communicator
•Demonstrated ability to use social media tools
•Willingness to work flexible hour
•Valid driver’s license and a working knowledge of Toronto’s streets and
highways is critical.
