The BRAC Uganda
Research and Evaluation Unit (REU) seeks a detail-oriented individual to assist
its team remotely (from anywhere in the world with a good Internet connection)
as a Research and Evaluation Intern. The primary activity of the Intern will be
to remotely monitor data collection activities related to MCFSP, coordinate
with REU staff in Uganda, as well as Principal Investigators in Sweden and the
US. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to learn about survey
administration, research and evaluation for development projects.
Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work
with REU staff to ensure compliance with research protocols while
implementing the survey - Review
data collected by enumerators in the field and perform quality checks - Report
data quality issues to REU field staff - Verify
interview location by plotting and monitoring GPS coordinates - Tally
valid interviews performed each enumerator and coordinate with field staff
to ensure appropriate enumerator remuneration - Assist
in data cleaning, analysis and reporting - Depending
on the technical ability of the Intern, there is also an opportunity to
contribute to the analysis of baseline survey data on an active Randomized
Control Trial - Other
responsibilities depending on the Intern’s interests and ability
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors
Degree in economics, development studies, social science, or a related
field. Master’s students are strongly encouraged to apply. - Strong
quantitative skills, in statistics or econometrics preferred. - High
proficiency performing data cleaning, management and analysis in Excel,
required. - Skill
working with STATA and R statistical packages highly preferred. - Ability
to plot GPS coordinates using GIS software (e.g. ArcGis, Q-Gis, Google
Earth Pro) or to learn the basics of GIS quickly. - Excellent
written and spoken communication skills in English. - Demonstrated
ability to work independently and attend frequent (daily) Skype calls.
