In March 2013, Botswana was officially designated
host of the 2nd African Youth Games which are set to take place in Gaborone
from 22nd to 31st May 2014. The Games, dubbed “Gaborone 2014” will
attract about 2500 athletes aged between 14 and 8 from 54 countries
participating in about 20 sports. The Botswana African Youth Games Organizing
Committee (BAYGOC), the local organizing committee charge with the
responsibility of delivering the Games has exciting career opportunities for

1.(REF: BAYGOC 03/2013) HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

1.1.Job Summary
To ensure the efficient preparation of detailed HR
and talent management strategies, plans, policies and procedures that support
the BAYCOG’s strategic intent including recruitment, on-boarding, performance
management, training and development, reward and remuneration, employee
relations and wellness.

1.2.Requirements
•Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management,
Industrial Psychology or related qualification

•At least 3 years relevant post qualification
experience at Human Resources Officer level and knowledge of employment
policies, practices and procedures in Botswana

•A valid driver’s license

procedures

OFFICER

3.1.Job Summary
To ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of
the BAYGOC accounts and financial statements and adequacy of cash flows to meet
the requirements of the organisation.

3.2.Requirements
•Degree in finance/accounting. A professional
qualification such as AAT would be an added advantage

•At least 3 years experience at an accounts officer
level in a computerized accounting environment and IT proficiency

•A valid driver license

4.1.Job Summary
To provide end user support and routine back office
IT services

•Degree in Computer Science or Information
Technology, a Bachelor of science Degree would be an added advantage

•At least 3 years professional experience dealing
with network administration, server management, security management and
troubleshooting of the windows environment

•A valid Driver’s license

5.1.Job Summary
To manage, implement and provide oversight on security
operations of the 2nd African Youth Games, through effective implementation if
risk management strategies that would guarantee the safety and/or security of
all people involved in the 2nd African Youth Games and asses of the BAYGOC and
its collaborating partners.

5.2.Requirements
•Degree in Risk Management/Security Studies/Event
and match day safety management

•At least 3 years professional experience in
managing security operations in a medium to high risk environment

•Recognized expertise and experience in security
planning and management of events involving several thousands of people would
be considered an advantage.

•Formal Training in Project Management.

08/2013) TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION COORDINATOR

6.1.Job Summary
To facilitate all the Transport and Accommodation
logistics and activities for the Games and be the implementation desk for all
the BAYGOC policies, plans and guidelines on transport and accommodation.

6.2.Requirements
•Degree in Logistics Management/Supply chain
management, administration or equivalent, with modules fleet management and
accommodation

•At least 3 years professional experience in
logistics, managing accommodation and/or transport operations in events
involving thousands of people

•Recognized expertise and experience in transport,
accommodation and or logistics management

•Formal training in Project Management.

7.(REF: BAYGOC 09/2013) GAMES AND SPORT OPERATIONS
COORDINATOR

7.1.Job Summary
To see the technical aspects of the Games such as
fixtures, play rules and regulations, playing equipment and facilities as well
as support operations such as medical and general health, anti-doping and
emergency services and insurance together with customs and immigration
services.

7.2.Requirements
•At least 3 years professional experience in
managing games and support operations in a high-profile multi sport games
environment or equivalent

•Recognized expertise and experience in Technical
aspects of multi sport games as well as support operations such as catering,
medical and general health services as well as customs and immigration services
(exposure to games and support operations at international level, especially
related to sport and/or Olympic movement would be considered an advantage)

•Degree in Sports Management, Physical Education,
or equivalent.

•Formal training in Project Management
