The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Uganda (Baylor -Uganda) headquartered at Mulago hospital, is a comprehensive HIV care and treatment organization that supports the treatment and care of HIV infected and affected Children and Adults. Baylor – Uganda has three operational areas; HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services, Health Professional training and Clinical Research.
Baylor-Uganda is in receipt of PEPFAR grant through CDC, and is looking for knowledgeable, enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to become part of its comprehensive care and treatment team.
Data Analyst
Role definition: Review and monitor the implementation of Baylor Uganda’s records and data management guidelines for collecting, sorting, coding, keyboard entry of data and storage of data forms processed in line with the M & E/Data departmental mission.
Work station: Head Office
Key result areas:
1. Develop a system to monitor capturing, cleaning & validation of data entered by the data clerks and conduct statistical analysis of the data collected to support various program activities in the organization
2. Design and update modify Baylor Uganda databases for capturing information for ongoing projects and update the MIS database for recording information on programme indicators, progress and impact according to established MIS guidelines
3. Build the capacity of Central and Regional data teams (Medical Records Assistants and District Bio-statisticians/HMIS Focal/ Person) and programme implementers per identified competence gaps in M & E and data management issues in line with the M & E departmental mission.
4. Monitor the implementation of procedures for backup all data under your custody and maintain its security for both online and archived datasets in line with the M & E/Data Guidelines
5. Develop a system for dissemination of project oriented, information to the key stakeholders inline with M & E/Data Guidelines
6. Conduct research and collect data which will help in continual program improvement that will meet various stakeholder’s needs and advice the program implementers in line with M & E/Data Guidelines
7. Produce monthly, quarterly and annual partner/donor data reports (BIPAI, MoH, CDC, MEEPP, etc) in line with Baylor Uganda M&E reporting requirements.
Qualifications & job specifications:
The successful candidate will have:
1. A Postgraduate diploma in project planning & management or statistics or demography or (A Postgraduate diploma in Computer Science/ Information Technology or a community based course or public health) with a Formal qualification in Monitoring and evaluation at diploma level.
2. At least 5 years in Log Frame Approach in planning, monitoring and evaluation; application of qualitative and quantitative M&E methods.
3. Good interpersonal, communication skills & organizational skills with Strong IT skills (generic applications, internal communications systems, and software packages to support M&E management).
4. Knowledge of common Statistical analysis and database management packages Ms Access, Ms Excel, STATA, SPSS, EPiDATA with comprehensive knowledge of error resolution in data entry.
Job specifications:
The job holder should have;
1) A Bachelor’s (honors) degree in Adult & Community education or Social Work and Social Administration or Community Psychology or Developmental Studies
2) at least 3 years experience in implementing Home Based Care Programs; with a reputable international NGO, and direct experience with government and donor representatives
3) have Key personal competences in Team and communication skills, networking and partnership skills. Must be dynamic, Persuasive &convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high initiative.
