The
role
International
Humanitarian Law (IHL) is a set of rules which seek, for humanitarian reasons,
to limit the effects of armed conflict. The dissemination of IHL and the
protection of the red cross, red crescent and red crystal emblems is a key
priority for Australian Red Cross. The role of Adviser – humanitarian and
medical sector engagement, will promote a greater understanding of IHL amongst
humanitarians and medical professionals by developing and capitalising on
relationships, networks and engagement strategies among groups working in
environments requiring knowledge of IHL and those who can influence
humanitarian debate in Australia.
About
you
Strategically
minded with a creative approach towards engaging stakeholders, including
volunteers you have managed, you will have operational experience within the
humanitarian field. A natural communicator, you have had success developing new
strategies and opportunities to progress organisational outcomes using your
diplomatic and persuasive skills. Knowledge and understanding of the
International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and IHL would be a strong advantage.
