Services Society

Executive Director
(permanent, 4 days/week)

Exciting new opportunity
in a developing organization!

The Executive Director provides
leadership to a multi-disciplinary team who provide prevention, assessment,
referral, counselling and follow-up services to individuals and family members
affected by sexual assault/abuse. Reporting to a community-based Board of
Directors, the Executive Director implements policy, monitors current trends
and enacts operational plans according to agency strategic direction.

Region 7 Sexual Assault Services
operates from an office location in Bonnyville, providing significant outreach
to communities such as Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, St Paul and other rural and/or
remote locations including Metis and First Nations communities. This agency is
affiliated with the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services
(www.aasas.ca) which is the provincial coordinating body for sexual assault
services in Alberta. The provincial network provides mentoring, consultation
and professional development support to sexual assault service providers across
the province.

Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP

a) Represents Region 7 SAS at
local, provincial, regional and national initiatives.

b) Provides a consistent voice
regarding the unique needs of clients.

c) Serve as media spokesperson
for the Society.

d) Liaise regularly with peer
organizations, sexual assault service providers and other community agencies.

POLICY & PROGRAM

a) Development and implementation
of effective and relevant programs and services

b) Development and implementation
of relevant operational, financial and human resources policies.

HUMAN RESOURCES

a) Ensure human resources support
strategic and financial direction of the organization through sound
recruitment, training and evaluation practices.

b) Develop and support a
workplace culture which enables individuals to work creatively and
cooperatively.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

a) Prepare the annual budget for
Board approval.

b) Monitor and approve financial
transactions to ensure operational goals are met within funding guidelines.

c) Actively grow revenues through
sound fund development practices.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field with
    a minimum of three years management experience (equivalencies may be
    considered).
  • Registered or eligible for registration with appropriate
    professional association preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and familiarity with Aboriginal
    traditions and culture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation,
    non-profit financial practices and government relations.
  • Working knowledge of computer software (email,
    internet), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of women’s issues, social justice
    advocacy, diversity and anti-oppressive practice an asset.
  • Criminal Records check, Child Intervention Record check,
    valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary ($65,000/annum based on 4 day/week or
    0.8 FTE)
