Location: Rosseau, Muskoka, Ontario
Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary has positions open from now until the
end of August 2015 for Wildlife Animal Assistants. This is
a volunteer
position. The work will generally be 5 days per week split into day /
afternoon shifts depending upon the needs of the animals. We offer
rescue, rehabilitation and release to sick, injured and orphaned
Ontario wildlife. We also provide a permanent home to many native
mammals that cannot be released due to human intervention.
The volunteer will not receive a salary, but will be provided with
accommodation in our bunkhouse.
The position has the following duties:
• care for orphaned and injured Ontario wildlife
• assist with rehabilitation and release of Ontario wildlife
• record keeping with regard to animals on site for rehabilitiation
• feeding permanent residents of the sanctuary
• cleaning enclosures
• assist with guiding and educating tourists on visiting days
• other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by the Director of Animal
Care
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks of service.
