The Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) helps identify environmental risks
and strengths on Canadian farms. It is a tool, used by farm families
to assess and improve their environmental stewardship, at a direction
and pace they choose themselves. Every step in the process is entirely
voluntary. The EFP program
in Alberta is operated by ARECA
(www.areca.ab.ca).
ARECA is recruiting for an EFP Director to fulfill the vision of the
EFP initiative in Alberta (http://www.albertaefp.com/index.html). The
EFP Director provides leadership and coordination for the ongoing
development and delivery of EFP services to Alberta producers in
partnership with other industry stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• A university degree in agriculture supplemented by training in adult
education with 2-3 years of experience in adult education and
extension programming.
• Experience in technology transfer and delivery of EFP or a similar program.
• Practical experience with Canada’s crop and livestock industry and a
solid understanding of the opportunities and challenges it faces with
environmental sustainability
• Extensive experience in team building, multiple-stakeholder
engagement and working in a team environment
• Strong writing skills and a thorough command of the English language
are essential in this role. Experience, including technical writing,
media relations or professional communications would be considered an
asset
• Must be able to work independently in delivery of the EFP role
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications including
Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• The successful applicant must be willing to spend up to 35% of their
time travelling throughout Alberta
