Purpose/Objective
The
Nutrition Counselors are in charge of providing individualized support around
nutrition and nutrition-related behaviors to at-risk and vulnerable individuals
and families. The Nutrition Counselors will work closely with the Nutrition
Coordinator, the Health Education Coordinator and the Community Health Workers,
to ensure proper screening, identification, and timely referral of at-risk
cases.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one
counselling on nutrition and behaviours that affect nutritional status;
- Maintain
current and accurate client records as directed, collect and report
relevant data about services provided, and prepare statistical reports as
required;
- Maintain client
confidentiality;
- Support cooking demonstration activity in
the camp
- Support Kitchen garden
establishment at Household level
- In collaboration with
NEC Field officer, organize and conduct nutrition mobilization to increase
skills and Knowledge of beneficiaries
- Supervise nutrition
animators
- Participate in growth
screenings in the camps;
- Organize and conduct
home visits in camp living quarters to support identified individuals and
families in their environment;
- Demonstrate
sensitivity and empathy towards clients’ challenging situations;
- Liaise closely with
the Nutrition Coordinator to support proper functioning of the Nutrition
Centre;
- When necessary,
participate in food distribution to beneficiaries according to defined
protocols and deliver required educational sessions about nutrition,
services and resources;
- Collaborate with other
ARC departments, relevant implementing partners and the Health/Nutrition
Centre as necessary;

Engage in self-assessment and
reflective practice to improve counseling skills and address clinical
challenges;

- Bachelor’s
degree in Human nutrition and
dietetics
- Minimum
4 years’ experience in providing individualized nutrition counseling
- Experience
of 4 years working in nutrition program
- Knowledge
of Maternal Infant and Young child Nutrition
- Knowledge
and experience of the challenges affecting nutrition in refugee settings
is a plus

Project Coordination
- Liaise regularly with NEC
Coordinator to ensure proper implementation of NEC activities within the
camp including but not limited to: selection and training of
volunteer nutrition animators, identification and engagement of relevant
stakeholders, delivery of awareness raising activities, support to
nutrition animators, and monitoring and evaluation;
- Coordinate and support Nutrition Animators to
deliver required activities as per work plan. This includes but is not
limited to: setting up community based groups, organizing and delivering
community mobilization events such as participatory theater and sports
events, identification and celebration of positive role models, engagement
of leaders;
- Liaise with Nutrition Coordinator, Health
Education Coordinator, Community Health Workers and other partners to
ensure harmonized messages across the camp
- Liaise with the Livelihoods Coordinator within
the camp and his/her responsibility and with the Nutrition & Food
Security Technical Advisor to implement livelihoods activities under the
NEC project
- Provide capacity building of Nutrition
Animators through regular meetings, supervision and coaching
- Monitor
and review NEC activities in the camp according to pre-determined
indicators
Other
- Coordinate the compilation and timely
submission of weekly and monthly reports of NEC activities as per
established templates and requirements
- Monitor all nutrition program expenditure
against budgets at the camp level
- Work with logistics team to develop accurate
and timely orders and requisitions for the effective delivery of NEC
activities
- Represent ARC in relevant meetings within the
camp
- Carry
out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
