Abstract
This research work assessed global
warming and its health implication in Erhoike-Kokori, Ethiope East Local
Government Area Delta State. In order to have broader understanding, four(4) study
objectives were drawn for the study which include; to find out if global
warming exist in Erhoike community, to find out the causes of global warming in
Erhoike community, to identify the health implications of global warming on the
people of Erhoike community and to highlight the role of government in
combating the problem of global warming. The descriptive survey method was
employed for the research study. The sample size of one hundred and forty (140)
respondents from a target population of one thousand, four hundred (1400)
persons were selected. Data were collected using a well structured
questionnaire and data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and
chi-square method. The findings obtained from the study revealed that global
warming exists in Erhoike community and that there are health implications of
global warming on the people of Erhoike community. Therefore, burning of fossil
fuels should be discouraged and gas re-injection strategies should be adopted
by oil companies at flow station.
