The
Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art is a non-profit artist-run centre in
Kelowna, BC. Our mandate is to support the development of innovative
contemporary work by local, national and international emerging and mid-career
artists. The Alternator

operates three exhibition spaces, hosts an artist co-op
program and facilitates a number of weekly and monthly community-based arts
events.
Working
under the Artistic and Administrative Director, the employee will manage daily
operations of the Alternator. The preferred applicant will have both education
and experience in the visual and media arts and familiarity with artist-run
centres. He/she is a highly responsible team player with excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills and is able to demonstrate personal
initiative and leadership within a collective environment.

responsibilities include: managing the Alternator’s day-to-day operations
including human resources, administrative duties, exhibition logistics,
installation and maintenance, and offer support to the Artistic and
Administrative Director and Board of Directors in grant applications,
fundraising and programming.

The
successful candidate will possess:

- Undergraduate
degree in Fine Arts, Media, Design or a related field - 3
years professional experience in an arts environment, preferably in the
context of an artist-run centre - Excellent
organizational and communication skills - Ability
to establish and adhere to information, documentation and archiving
methods . - Ability
to work both independently and part of a team - Familiarity
with the Mac environment, including Word, and Excel, (In-Design, Adobe
Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator an asset but not necessary) - Physical
ability and knowledge to perform preparatory and installation work,
including basic curatorial knowledge - Interest
in networking and developing new relationships for the gallery - Capacity
to work within both creative and traditional business domains - Experience
in basic accounting
Remuneration:
$30,940 per annum – approx. 35 hours per week
