The Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) seeks a
Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician to
aid with the rehabilitation and
release of injured and orphaned wildlife in Alberta.
Summary of Duties:
• Care of patients including exams, treatment, husbandry, diagnostics,
euthanasia, routine lab tests, etc.
• Arrange animal rescues, transport, and releases.
• Answer and direct phone calls from the public and volunteers.
• Housekeeping duties including laundry, dishes, floor cleaning, etc.
• Manage and supervise volunteers, interns, and students.
• Assist with public relations via Open Houses, tours, press,
published articles, etc.
• Assist with facility and enclosure construction and maintenance.
Desired Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. biology, zoology).
• Excellent project management skills and ability to perform well
under pressure.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presenting skills.
• Completion of IWRC’s Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation 1AB course would
be an asset.
• Knowledge of Alberta wildlife and natural history.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Salary/Hours of Work:
Salary: $34,000 per annum.
Schedule: 40 hours per week (most likely working Tuesday-Saturday).
Flexible schedule is required, depending on animal care needs.
