Air Canada’s enRoute is
looking for an Editor-in-Chief following the promotion of the current EIC to
Editorial Director. We’re looking for an editor with industry-leading ideas to
evolve one of the country’s fastest-growing media brands, including the
award-winning monthly travel magazine, enRoute,
along with other creative content programs that play across Air
Canada’s unique channels, including seatback screens, apps and an evolving
digital network. You’ll be responsible for signature initiatives that recognize
and impact Canadian culture, such as Canada’s Best New Restaurants, the Air
Canada enR

oute Film Festival and our Hotel Design Awards.


You’ll bring great leadership to our exceptional, bilingual team of talented
editors, designers and digital gurus, along with a clear vision for enRoute. You’ll
develop content that will wow, delight and deliver insight to our audiences,
whatever platform they are interacting with. You are a master storyteller,
with a proven track record of producing rich, compelling feature work that
engages your audience beyond the flip of a page or quick scroll of the mouse.
You also understand intuitively how to bring this editorial expertise to
thoughtful commercial partnerships, with the goal of enhancing the reader’s
experience through every activation.


This role will appeal to somebody who understands the evolution of media and
how to deliver an enhanced, integrated experience for our readers that speaks
to our client’s iconic brand. We welcome those with the drive to raise the bar

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for overseeing our monthly magazines (Air
Canada’s enRoute,
the inflight entertainment guide, Air Canada’s enRoute edition and any special
issues), leading our team and curating the enRoute
brand seamlessly across all our editorial products. Candidates must
have:

  • 5
    years’ experience in a senior role at a magazine
  • Experience
    inspiring, leading and mentoring a large staff
  • The
    ability to act as a spokesperson for the brand, including on-camera
    appearances and media interviews
  • Expertise
    in both narrative and service journalism as well as strong packaging
    skills
  • Expertise
    in adapting ideas across multiple platforms and touchpoints
  • A
    thorough understanding of the requirements of corporate branding, and a
    solid grasp of marketing and advertising
  • Excellent
    communication and presentation skills, and the ability to convey and
    package creative ideas for a client
  • A
    degree or certificate in journalism or a relevant university degree
  • A
    network of leading writers and contributors
  • A
    thorough understanding of multiplatform production
  • The
    ability to work in a bilingual environment

As part of this
role, global travel will be required from time to time.

This is a permanent,
full-time position in our Montreal office.
