Purpose
of the job
The
Company Nurse will mainly deal with administering first aid to workers involved
in occupational illness or accident before transferring them to the hospital.
He or she will work together with the SHE Committee and the emergency response
committee to give high quality care to sick AIF workers who require being
transferred to a hospital as well as all those involved in occupational
accidents.
The
jobholder will also be responsible for managing all transfers to the hospital
of all workers involved in an occupational accident or illness.
Key
Responsibilities
The
jobholder will be responsible for performing the following duties:
  • Administer
    first aid treatment and medication to AIF employees when needed.
  • Monitor
    and record all patients’ conditions.
  • Implements
    a comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment.
  • Recognize
    appropriate priorities for care by recognizing and Identifying expected
    outcomes which include a timeframe for achievement.
  • Educate
    workers to maintain and promote health.
  • Assist
    and accompany all injured employees to the accident and emergency
    department of the hospital with which AIF has service agreement.
  • Maintain
    all employees medical and other relevant records.
  • Secure
    and ensure that all sick employees submit ‘’fit to work’’ certificates
  • Interpret
    and evaluate diagnostic tests based on the verification of medical
    certificates
  • Oversee
    the annual medical screening of all AIF employees
  • Conduct
    inventory of medical supplies in the first aid kits on a regular basis.
  • Record
    and report all incidents, accidents and complaints involving staff and
    visitors
Knowledge
and educational level
Educational
level:
  • Registered
    nurse with the Rwandan nurses and midwives’ council license
  • Tertiary
    qualification with a minimum of an A0 in registered nursing / general
    nursing.
Required
level of experiences
  • Satisfactory
    evidence of professional development in a relevant specialty area
  • A
    minimum of 3 years’ management experience as a nurse in a recognized
    healthcare institution
  • Able
    to handle accidents and incidents and report swiftly
  • Up
    to date knowledge of current clinical and professional processes and
    procedures.
  • Extensive
    knowledge in area of speciality.
