Aegis Rwanda -Social Enterprises Intern Job Vacancy in Rwanda

Internship Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. However additional hours and possible weekend work may be required as needed.

Timeline: This is a 3 month internship with the possibility of extension

Aegis Trust is a leading genocide and mass atrocity prevention organization and has activities in the UK and Rwanda, with strong links in Canada and the US. The mission of Aegis Trust is to work towards the prediction, prevention and ultimately the elimination of genocide, primarily through research, education and the dissemination of information and advice. Aegis has been at the forefront of campaigning to end the crisis in Darfur and partnered with the Kigali City Council to build the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda.

Aegis is currently recruiting candidates for an international internship in Rwanda to support the development of our social enterprises.

As the Social Enterprises Intern you will be part of a creative team helping to develop innovative and engaging fundraising projects.

Reporting To: Social Enterprises Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the development and implementation of a marketing plan for specific Social Enterprise activities
Developing activities within the hostel – including organising events, safaris, trips
Engaging with social media sites, online forums and discussion groups to publicise Aegis’ Social Enterprises
Working to engage companies both local and international to support the Social Enterprise activities by donating in kind, with services or otherwise
Supporting the development of the annual Discover Rwanda educational volunteering trips run by Aegis Students

Qualities & Skills Essential:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written – able to communicate information in an interesting and engaging manner
Comfortable working with a variety of social media outlets and good IT capability
Event management experience
Marketing experience
Innovative thinker with a flare for new ideas and a track record of successfully implementing them
The ability to become familiar with issues and topics extremely quickly
Enthusiastic, motivated and articulate
Self motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully work in a small team
IT proficiency including knowledge of MS Office
Basic knowledge of Aegis and the Aegis Social Enterprises
As this is an international internship, previous experience living and/or working in a developing country would be an asset

Desirable:
Detailed knowledge of the work of Aegis Trust and Aegis Students
Experience of living and working in Rwanda with an understanding of the social environment
Experience within an NGO, government agency or intergovernmental organisation
Knowledge of key human rights issues, international law, conflict prevention and minority issues
Experience of projects aimed at engaging young people on human rights, conflict prevention, international development issues
Experience of coordinating large scale events on issues of human rights, conflict prevention, international development
Experience of writing for publication
Experience of devising and implementing marketing campaigns
Good level of French comprehension and speaking
