International Trainer Volunteer (expenses paid)

Job Summary:
Education and development NGO Peace Child International (PCI) is
looking for International Trainers for its business training,
mentorship and microfinance institutions in West Africa. This is an
exciting opportunity for anyone with some business knowledge and a
demonstrable interest in teaching, youth development, sustainable
development, NGOs and/or international development.
The Be The Change Academy (BTCA) programme is a job creation
initiative that provides business training to help young people
develop the skills they need to operate a business and enables them to
access mentorship and credit to start up. The International Trainer
will be responsible for recruiting, training and mentoring these young
people and maintaining the BTCA programme. They will live on-site in
West Africa and have the support of our local partners and PCI staff.
International trainers will be provided with accommodation, health
insurance and flights.
Responsibilities
• Work with local organisers to deliver trainings;
• Recruit trainees and conduct accurate base-line assessments of their
skills and competencies;
• Mentor trainees whose business plans are funded;
• Execute the monitoring & evaluation and certification processes,
setting up reliable control groups;
• Work with government and donor officials to secure continuity
funding to support ongoing BTCA trainings;
• Make sure that deadlines are set and met for the different
components of the project;
• Take photographs and write blogs and journals on the project for
communications purposes;
• Assist in the preparation of accounts and weekly reports to the UK
headquarters;
• Identify potential funding sources; write letters and proposals,
make phone calls, do pitches with local staff and volunteers to secure
new local funding for the BTCA;
• Research and find out best practice from other local enterprise
training and/or microfinance enterprise creation organisations.
Qualifications:
Required
• Exceptional communication, presentation and organisational skills;
• Some business or entrepreneurial experience;
• An ability and willingness to provide support for your young trainees;
• Competent IT skills;
• An ability to cope with challenges quickly and effectively;
• An ability to be flexible and adaptable;
• An ability to learn from local people who have experience in
motivating and supporting young people.
Desirable
• Degree in business studies;
• Experience writing business plans;
• Some teaching/facilitation experience;
• Dedication to sustainable development;
• Experience working with young people;
• Experience living or working in developing countries.
