seeks a Volunteer
Recruitment and Crowd Pumper Coordinator to assist in the
planning and execution of all the stakeholder seating at Free The Children’s
signature event, We Day. We Day is more than just one day of celebration and
inspiration. We Day is the movement of our time – a movement of young people
leading local and global change. Harnessing the energy and passion of a young
community of change makers, We Day brings youth together in an unparalleled
setting to show them that they are not alone in their journey to make a
difference.
As a Volunteer
Recruitment and Crowd Pumper Coordinator, you are a leader and Free The
Children ambassador who helps ensure that all youth and educators know where to
find their seats, and implement a seamless seating plan for attendees. As a
part of the seating team at We Day, you will be one of the first points of
contact for the audience, and you will assist them with questions they may have
and will guide the audience through their We Day experience. You are the role
model and the steward that will help set the tone and good vibe of an
unforgettable We Day!
The We Day work

tasking and working in a fast paced environment. A passion for event planning
and logistics combined with an interest in social justice is an asset.
There is a three (3)
month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff
members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistance
Program. The position is based out of Free the Children’s office in Toronto
(233 Carlton Street).
Responsibilities:
The duties of this
position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruit
volunteers for various general and Champion positions for all We Day
events - Liaise
with team leads to gather their specific volunteer needs to ensure
strategic recruitment - Research
and develop recruitment strategies and proposals for each We Day event,
with a focus on new markets - Strong
emphasis on building and fostering relationships with existing and new
‘Champion’ volunteers who can assist with local recruitment (such as
Universities, Colleges, youth organizations, dance studios, etc.) - Develop
and implement specialized Crowd Pumper recruitment strategy - Work
closely with the Manager, Volunteer Engagement with regards to pro-active
recruitment strategies and assist with corporate volunteers - Strategize
and implement pre-event recruitment calls, including ‘cold-calling’ - Work
with the social media and PR team to promote the volunteer opportunity
through several media outlets - Assist
with in-venue volunteer execution as needed - Host
Volunteer Address with crowds of 400+ in all cities - Oversee
Crowd Pumper Facebook groups and respond to all Crowd Pumper inquiries - Deliver
extensive training to Champion Crowd Pumper volunteers during event
execution - Deliver
general Crowd Pumper training offsite prior to in venue training - Collaborate
with the Production team for specific event moments and requirements
General,
Administrative and Reporting:
- Maintain
the Champion volunteer recruitment document and records - Generate
registration lists and reports from Salesforce and filter and distribute
accordingly - Develop
and maintain detailed records of outreach activity log; track and analyze
the effectiveness of outreach strategies - Prepare
re-engagement strategy and emails for past Champion volunteers
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Bachelor
degree preferred and some professional work experience - Prior
background with recruitment is an asset - Experience
making cold calls to external organizations and individuals - Comfortable
speaking to large crowds - Superior
verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to
articulate in a clear, concise, confident, engaging and compelling manner - Experience
building and maintaining strong working relationships - Unsurpassed
attention to detail and highly organized to handle recruitment for
multiple We Day events simultaneously - Strong
research skills with an ability to develop new and innovative recruiting
strategies - Confident,
outgoing, pleasant, expressive nature - Strong
initiative, confident and can build rapport with various stakeholder
groups - Able to
multi-task, work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced
environment - A
self-starter with a high level of motivation and an ability to thrive with
minimal supervision - Passion
for events, social justice issues and youth empowerment - Excellent
work ethic and dedication, flexible schedule with a willingness to work
long hours, comfortable with last minute requests - Proficient
use of MS Office programs and Salesforce experience is an asset
