570 News is seeking
a Part-time News Anchor/Reporter whose primary shifts will be on the
weekend. Reporting to the News Director at Kitchener this individual
will:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Determine on-air
news content, including story selection and story order.
• Write creative copy.
• Ensure the stories in the line-ups are updated.
• Ensure breaking stories get on the air quickly and, if necessary, ensure we
have reporting resources to cover those stories.
• Work with anchors to determine story assignments for reporters.
• Work with Audio Editor on choosing and editing audio segments.
• Ensure anchors are re-writing and updating stories.
• Inform the News Director of major breaking story.
• Generate interesting story ideas on a daily basis.
• Present News reports in an entertainin
g manner.
• Ensure News is factual
• Execute all related program activities according to station format, style,
content and philosophy
• Understand and represent the “news vision” of the station and company
• Be able to work weekends/cover other shifts when necessary
• Working knowledge of Burli News System
• Understand and participate in 570 News social media initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2 to 4 years experience in a similar capacity in radio
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Ability to work well with others in a fast paced environment
• Excellent knowledge of local, regional, national and world news
• Minimum 2 years on-air experience in a similar news capacity
• Graduate of a community college journalism program
• Must be willing/able to relocate to the Waterloo region
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Must be a team player
• Must be detail oriented and able to take direction
• Must have a valid drivers license
