About 31Bits
Designs:
31 Bits Designs is a
socially minded business designed to give internally displaced women in
Northern Uganda an opportunity to counter poverty. Our program equips women by
providing literacy education, financial and vocational training, holistic care,
and strong support systems, empowering individuals to further their careers and
attain social equity.
The Director of
Development will serve as the technical and programmatic lead for the
implementation, expansion and quality improvement of development programs
offered to beneficiaries and their families. A key component of this position
is to advance the impact of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) strategies and
use existing data to further develop existing development programs. This is a
full time position, with approximately 65% of time programmatic and 35%
research, protocol, and proposal development. The Director of Development will
work with the Director of International Development and will be based in Gulu,
Uganda. We ask applicants be willing to make an 18 month commitment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Lead
coordination of development programs and create monthly goals for the
development team - Oversee
day to day delivery of development program activities for beneficiaries
and their families - Support
and mentor development staff - Facilitate
weekly meetings with development staff members - Contribute
to the analysis of M&E data and writing publishable reports - Contribute
to writing protocols and developing systems for program development - Develop
a development program implementation toolkit - Contribute
to finding and writing grant proposals for development activities in
Gulu - Oversee
hiring of all new beneficiaries and managers in the Gulu compound
Miscellaneous
- Oversee
daily inputs for M&E activities - Manage
budget for development activities
Professional
Development Opportunities
- Receive
programmatic and M&E mentorship from the International Director of
Development - Participate
in 31Bits’ research activities, and have access to research mentorship and
support - Co-author
peer-reviewed publications - Special
consideration for attending national and international development-related
conferences/meetings (available as budget allows)
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate
will have experience living and working abroad. They will be passionate about 31Bits
mission and vision. The candidate should have background in international
development, women’s rights and team management. They should be creative, hard
working, and a self-learner. We are looking for an individual who is passionate
about our cause, and desires to play a role in dreaming for our future and
shaping the strategy of our company.
Eligibility
Requirements:
• Masters degree in
a field relevant to international development (public health, development,
anthropology, etc.) preferred
• Research or
M&E experience preferred
• Grant writing
experience preferred
• Strong background
in data analysis and writing project reports
• Previous
experience working in developing countries
• Outstanding
cross-cultural skills with the ability to adapt to the local culture
• Outstanding
interpersonal/communication skills
• Shows patience and
compassion
• Commitment to the
mission and values of 31Bits
• Desire to work for
