Barcelona icon, Xavi has reportedly agreed to succeed Quique Setien as the Spanish giants’ new boss.
Setien, 61, has been under extreme pressure since January ‘s dismissal of Ernesto Valverde and there are speculations that the club’s board has already agreed to sack him to pave the way for Xavi.
A “firm agreement” has been signed, according to Mundo Deportivo, and it will see Barcelona pay Xavi, 40, a £5.4million bumper a year. At the end of the season, he is expected to take in the reins.
The legendary Spanish midfielder, who joined the club at the age of 11, made 767 first-team appearances for Barcelona, scoring 85 goals with 182 assists. He also won eight league championships, four Champions Leagues, three Copas del Rey, as well as two World Cup Club titles.
