Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is arguably one of the hottest properties in world football right now after his French club Lille confirmed that they had indeed received multiple offers from various clubs for the gangling forward.
Although many had concluded that the transfer rumors linking Osimhen to various clubs across Europe were merely speculations, Lille owner Gerard Lopez claimed otherwise, even though he kept his lips sealed on the identity of the clubs for the 21-year-old Nigerian
Osimhen just joined Sporting Charleroi’s Ligue 1 team before the 2019-20 season, but it’s very interesting that he’s already linked elsewhere with a big-money transfer.
“There are multiple offers,” Lopez told Mail Online. “We turned down one English and one Spanish offer this January transfer window.
“There is a wide array [this summer] and I wouldn’t want to give the names of the clubs who are bidding but what I can tell you is that there are multiple [offers]. There are three championships that have clubs that have bid for him.”
Osimhen scored 18 goals in all competitions, including two in his Champions League campaign, which may explain why the Nigerian striker’s clubs fell off the heels
Lille is expected to make a big profit on Osimhen as they officially paid him just €12million last year.
Osimhen was linked with the Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham among other teams and the Lille owner maintains that there is an iota of truth in the relentless transfer talk around the striker
He said: “Let me tell you with Osimhen, it is the same thing, whatever number you heard, the high number I have read is very much on the money of the offers that we have received. That’s where we are.”
Most Nigerians are divided on Osimhen leaving Lille for another club this summer as they think it could be counterproductive but others feel it would be a wise step particularly if it is a transfer to the English Premier League.
