Rohr speaks on Iheanacho’s future with the Super Eagles

Super Eagles ‘ head coach Gernot Rohr has insisted that Kelechi Iheanacho will remain in his plans ahead of the 2021 Nations Africa Cup and 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

After Rohr openly questioned his professionalism, Iheanacho was removed from Nigeria’s team to the 2019 AFCON.

In his last two pre-season matches for the Foxes, the Leicester City forward has since bounced back and scored three times.

Rohr thinks Iheanacho might be able to return to the Eagles squad.

“Work has already started and I know that this player Kelechi Iheanacho can still do a good job for us.

“Kelechi too can score goals and I think that his omission from the AFCON would be a big motivation for him.

“I was talking with him throughout the AFCON because he’s still a congruent part of our team and I know he wants to work harder now because he has understood the professional ways of doing things.

“I know that Kelechi can be an interesting player for the Super Eagles,” the German told journalists.
