A new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer has been appointed by Zenith Bank Plc. The information was made known to the public on Monday 8th April, 2018 by the bank. Information revealed by the bank stated that Ebenezer Onyeagwu has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The information sent by the management of the bank to the Nigerian Stock Exchange revealed that the appointment of Ebenezer Onyeagwu is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Before his new appointment, Ebenezer Onyeagwu had been a deputy managing director in the bank since October 2016 and had spent 17 years working with Zenith Bank.
Ebenezer Onyeagwu is a graduate of accounting from Auchi Polytechnic. He started his banking career at the defunct Financial Merchant Bank in 1991 before moving to Citizens International Bank Limited where he held several management positions before joining Zenith Bank in 2002.
Ebenezer Onyeagwu, obtained a postgraduate diploma in Financial Strategy and a certificate in Macroeconomics from the University of Oxford. Ebenezer Onyeagwu started out as a senior manager in the Internal Control and Audit Group of the bank and by 2005 had become an assistant general manager in the bank.
Ebenezer Onyeagwu is expected to resume duty as the bank’s new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on 1st June, 2019 on the expiration of the current CEO, Peter Amangbo come 31st May, 2019.
