Thousands of Wow Air passengers in Europe and the United States woke up to a shocking and unpleasant news of the collapse of Wow Air. Wow Air is an Icelandic budget airline. Wow Air is known for flying from London to the US via Reykjavik and it is highly patronize as a result of its cheap fares which are as little as £99. The grounding of all Wow Air flight is reported to have been as a result of the collapse of 11th-hour talks with investors to secure financial backing.
Wow Air is reported by some media houses to be “heavily indebted” and had also suffered from bad press over its no-frills service, which Travel Codex described as “notoriously horrible”. This is reports which had been confirmed by the ceasing of operations by Wow Air later and the cancellation of all future flights.
According to a report from Wow Air, ticket-holding passengers will need to arrange travel with other operators. Some airlines may offer flights at a reduced rate, so-called rescue fares, in light of the circumstances”, the statement adds. “Information on those airlines will be published, when it becomes available.”
In response to this sudden collapse of Wow Air, many customers took to social media in disbelief on discovering their flights to and from Iceland had been cancelled. However, passengers covered by various protected booking methods including booking by credit card or through a European travel agent are trying to get a refund.
