Investigating Trump on Russia collusion was “a total waste of time”

The president of the United States, President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday, 24th March, 2019 that at the end of a nearly two-year investigation there was no evidence of any wrong doing by him in terms of colluding with Russians during the 2016 presidential elections in the United States that brought him into power.

Donald Trump has been extremely critical of the highly publicised probe that commenced shortly after he was elected in November 2016.  Robert Mueller, a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), was appointed a special counsel to oversee the inquiry.

According to the investigation report by Robert Mueller, “The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” Mr. Mueller was quoted as stating in a four-page excerpt of his report circulated on Sunday by U.S. Attorney-General William Barr.

Donald Trump in celebrating after been cleared of wrong doing tweeted shortly after the disclosure Sunday., “No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION,” “KEEP AMERICA GREAT.”

Robert Mueller clearly exonerated President Donald Trump on the Russian collusion allegations. The complete exoneration has however generated controversies from different angles about whether or not the president was culpable in obstruction of justice.

From inception of the investigative panel, President Donald Trump had criticized Robert Mueller at various instances using the social media (especially twitter) and in public comments calling the investigation exercise a complete waste of time and a witch-hunt.

Now at the end of the investigation, it was truly a waste of time as President Donald Trump had called it.

However, democrats had swiftly downplayed the report and stated that the result of the investigation as only one of several serious investigations into President Donald Trump activities during the 2016 election and they promised to shift their focus to the other activities of President Donald Trump which they termed illegal.

During the Robert Mueller investigations, about 37 persons were indicted, among whom are  top aides and associates of President Donald Trump. These top aides and associates include Paul Manafort, who was found to have engaged in shady foreign deals, mostly with Russians and Ukrainians, but were not found culpable of facilitating foreign interference in American elections.
