FEC approves N613 million for new building in Adamawa State University

A new faculty building worth N613 million for Adamawa State University, Mubi has just gotten the approval of The Federal Executive Council (FEC).

This was revealed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on Wednesday 20th March, 2019 at the end of the FEC meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The new building, which is for the Faculty of Arts, is to be constructed at a cost of N613,395,650.

The project which had been awarded to a company called Spectrum Engineering is being undertaken by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu also informed the public the council has also approved the Safe Schools Declaration.

According to him, “The Safe School declaration is an inter-governmental political commitment by governments that was recommended for endorsement by all countries at an international conference held in Oslo, Norway, on May 28, 2015.” He added that the endorsement of the council means that is now committed to implementing the Safe School guidelines.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu explained the operation of the Safe Schools Declaration thus, “The Safe School initiative will come in proper focus when there is some conflict and the federal government will come to their aid but they themselves are doing what they are supposed to do in all the places where they are affected by the conflict.”
