Fresh attacks on Friday 15th March, 2019 has left at least ten (10) people dead and eleven (11) houses burnt down in a community in Kaduna State.
According to the chairman of Sanga Local Government Council, Charles Danladi, the fresh waves of attacks occurred in Nandu village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The chairman of Sanga Local Government Council, Charles Danladi made this known to the in a statement in Kafanchan on Saturday, 16th March, 2019. He stated that the attacks which took place on Friday 15th March, 2019 had left at least 10 people dead and not less than eleven houses were set ablaze by the attackers.
Mr. Charles Danladi lamented that this attacks possed another big challenge to the government of the state who has been struggling to curtail repeated attacks in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state in the last two months which had lead to the death of so many people in the state.
He stated that the attacks which had been believed to be between the Adara people and their Fulani neighbours had led to the untimely death of dozens of civilians. As the series of attacks increased, the state government imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the area even as the attacks continued.
The Sanga local government Area Chairman, Mr. Charles Danladi confirmed that normalcy has returned to the community affected and the government is putting it adequate effort to prevent reprisal attacks from people who lost their love ones and properties in the Friday attack. The chairman said that they are in contact with the youths in the community to ensure that reprisal attacks which may lead to escalation of the already bad situation are prevented.
Unconfirmed reports by some residents of Nandu village believed that the attacks were carried out by Fulani herders in what they suspected to be a retaliation of attacks on them by locals in the community before the just concluded general elections.
Apart from the people who lost their lives and the houses razed down by the attackers, about eleven (11) cows and twenty-eight (28) sheep were also found to have been killed or missing after the attacks.
