ADC presidential candidate promise Nigerians a $1 trillion economy if elected

Mr. Obadiah Mailafia who is the the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Obadiah Mailafia in the February 16, 2019 election has promised to introduce measures that will transform Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy if elected.

Mr. Obadiah Mailafia who was a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria mad this promise while answering question from interview he granted on the Sunrise Daily programme of Channels Television on Wednesday 6th February, 2019

Mr. Obadiah Mailafia who is a candidate which is running for his first political office lamented the poor strength of the naira, promised to give the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) autonomy to enhance price and financial stability as well as economic growth of Nigeria.

In the course of the interview he stated that the CBN was not performing its statutory roles efficiently and effectively, but if elected, he will ensure that the CBN clearly understands it statutory role and efficiently carry it its responsibilities in ensuring job creation and integrity of the Nigerian national currency. According to Mr. Obadiah Mailafia the CBN is currently without vision, purpose or sense of direction because they have no autonomy. And that is one of his key agenda towards creating the $1 trillion economy in Nigeria if elected.

Also speaking in comparing the two major political parties in Nigeria, the All Progressives Alliance (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he stated that the performance of the incumbent administration has not satisfied Nigerians. He however stated that the PDP which is currently presenting themselves as a alternative to the current administration have a lot of internal challenges and they lack both intellectual and moral capital to grow the economy of the country.

Mr. Obadiah Mailafia  stated that what Nigerians need at the moment is an alternative candidate who will bring new modalities and not recycled politicians with no new ideas. He referred to the various endorsements of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by some sectional groups,  are fuelled  the ideologies of some cultural groups with secret underlying interests.

The endorsements referred by Mr. Obadiah Mailafia are those from the Northern Elders Forum, Pan Niger Delta Forum, Middle Belt Forum, Ohaneze Ndigbo and a faction of Afenifere. Mr. Obadiah Mailafia said he is not intimidated by these endorsements of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar ahead of the February 16 presidential election.
