President Donald Trump barred from United States’ House of Representatives Chamber

The speaker of the United States House of Representative, Nancy Pelosi has written to President Donald Trump barring him from delivering the State of the Union address slated for January 29, 2019 as a result of the ongoing government shutdown over the funding for the US-Mexico border wall.

In her letter, Nancy Pelosi informed President Trump that the invitation to address the joint sitting of Congress on the State of the Union has been withdrawn until the government reopens.

Nancy Pelosi in a strongly worded letter stated thus, “I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened.”

She however stated that she will be looking forward to receiving the president to the House after the government reopens on a mutually agreeable date for the president to address the House.

Nancy Pelosi letter further deteriorate the already bad relationship between Democrats and the president and the hope of having a consensus towards ending the government shutdown dashed once more again.

If Nancy Pelosi’s ban on President Trump is able to prevent him from delivering the State of the Union address to Congress in person on January 29, 2019 it will go into the history books as this will be the first time a sitting president would have failed to do address the joint sitting of Congress on the State of the Union since 8 January 1790 when President George Washington gave his first speech at Federal Hall in New York.

In his reaction to the resent development, President Trump declared that the Democrats had become radicalised and he also accused them of not wanting to put an end to crime in the United States which could be easily achieved by building the US-Mexico wall.

He also said that he will not be intimidated by the gimmicks of the Democrats to reopen the government, so everyone should be ready as this government shutdown will go on for a while.
