Man. United appoints an ex-player as caretaker manager to replace Mourinho

Manchester United has appointed a caretaker manager to replace Jose Mourinho who was sacked two days ago following a lack-lustre performance and poor relationship existing between the manager and the players of the Red Devils during the first half of the English Premier League Season.The new caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a former strike for the Red Devils has been hired to oversee the Manchester United team until the end of the 2018/2019 session.  Solskjaer is to handle the team to give United time to search for a new Manager.

Solskjaer will be working alongside Mike Phelan, Michael Carrick and Kieran Mckenna to oversee United who is currently in the 6th position in the English Premiership Table till the end of the season.

As a caretaker manager, Solskjaer first responsibility is to play away as Cardiff City this Saturday where he was a manager in 2014. Ole Solskjaer is saddled with the responsibility of uniting the players and the fans of the club who are currently undergoing a crisis period at the moment.

While Solskjaer is to manage the team till the end of the season, he has been reported that Manchester United will be hunting for a new manager. Rumours have it that among others, former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino top the list of those being considered for the job.

Solskjaer was a Manchester United striker between 1996 and 2007 who scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for the Red Devils, among them is the most memorable Champions League winner again Bayern Munich in 1999 in the final match that saw Manchester United lifted the trophy.

Before he was appointed as a caretaker coach, Solskjaer was in charge of a Norwegian club Molde FK where he recently signed a three year contract. Molde FK. On speaking of the future of Solskjaer, Molde FK stated that Solskjaer was “lent” to Manchester United until the end of the season while they appointed Erling Moe to oversee the club while Solskjaer is away at Manchester United. According to the chief executive of Molde Øystein Neerland Manchester United ask Molde FK to lend Solskjaer to them until the end of the season.
