New promotions of officers in the Nigerian army came with a very great price tag

Newly promoted army senior staff has been instructed by The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai to brace up for their posting to the North East to partake in the fight against the Boko Haram Terrorist Group in strengthen the operation against the terrorist group in the North Eastern part of the Nigeria.

In a bitter-sweet-like tone, the army boss made this declaration in the event of the decoration of the newly promoted officers of the Nigerian army telling them that there is nothing they can do about the decision because the posting is already out and the army was just waiting for this day to come before they will be informed of their posting. He instructed those who are posted to the North East to pack up their bags and be ready to go to the North East the following day.

The army boss urged the wives of the deployed officers to take care of their homes while their husbands leave for the North East to combat the Boko Haram Terrorist Group.

Buratai urge the army staff to put their wealth of experience in the army in the carrying out their operation in their newly deployed stations stating that the new promotions were totally out of merit and dedication in the service to the nation over the years.

A detailed list of the promoted officers is as follows:

  • 106 Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels and one Major to Lieutenant          Colonel,
  • 95 Colonels to Brigadier-Generals, and
  • 29 Brigadier-Generals were elevated to Major-Generals.

The army boss stressed that their promotions is a morale booster geared towards re-energising them to better discharge their duties in their service to their fatherland.
