Characteristics of a sanitary well


i.           
Free from any sources of pollution or contamination.

ii.       
Should be preferably deep to the first impervious large.

Should be tasteless.

Should not be turbid.

Should reflect no presence of faecal coliform on bacteriological analysis.

Should posses apron as well as parapet.

Should be technically made water tight by lining.

viii. Should posses an anchored bucket for drawing water.

Should posses a tight fitting cover.

Should produces or yields water both at the summer and winter.
