For September 2018,
Cyprus Institute is proud to offer scholarships for master’s program in
Environmental Sciences. The program will prepare the next generation of leaders
in the field of Environmental Sciences. The scholarships will cover (for the
normal duration of the program) full funding of tuition and fees and travel and
relocation expenses (from the country of origin for students relocating from
abroad).
CyI has been developed as an international science and technology organization,
to strengthen the research community of Cyprus, help transform its economy to a
knowledge-based economy and to create a research hub for the Eastern
Mediterranean region. For realizing its vi
sion the Institute is developing
pioneering research infrastructures and programs involving cutting-edge, high
throughput technologies, in order to address problems of local and regional
significance and of international interest and providing high-quality graduate
education and training in related areas.
Scholarship
Description:
- Application Deadline: March 1, 2018
- Course Level: Scholarships are
available to pursue Master degree programme. - Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded
in the field of Environmental Science. The program offers two-degree
options: MSc in Environmental Sciences (14 months -90 ECTS) and MSc/MPhil
in Environmental Sciences (18 months -120 ECTS). - Scholarship Award: The scholarships will
cover (for the normal duration of the program) full funding of tuition and
fees and travel and relocation expenses (from the country of origin for
students relocating from abroad). - Nationality: International students
- Number of Scholarships: Up to three
scholarships will be offered to top students accepted to the program. - Scholarship can be taken
in Cyprus

Entrance Requirements:
To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following
requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree from
a recognized accredited academic institution, with a strong background in
natural sciences, mathematics or engineering. - Proof of English language
proficiency (at least 6.5 IELTS or 79 iBT TOEFL). If applicant’s native
language is English or if the applicant graduated from a university where
English was the language of instruction, then this requirement may be
waived.

Apply: Students
must apply using our online application system. Prospective applicants should
read the section below, which outlines exactly which documents will be required

- Academic Degrees and
Official Transcripts
Students will have to upload their undergraduate degree (scan of actual
degree diploma) and a copy of their official transcript. Students should
also upload a copy of the degree and transcripts of any additional degrees
earned.
Students who have not yet graduated at the time of application, but will
have graduated before the start of the program for which they are
applying, may submit their transcript to date. If they are accepted into
the program, then they will be required to provide to The Cyprus Institute
Graduate School their official final transcript and copy of their degree
as soon as they are issued. Degrees must be from accredited
institutions/programs. - English Language
Certificates
Applicants must demonstrate proof of English language proficiency (at
least 6.5 IELTS or 79 iBT TOEFL). If applicant’s native language is
English or if the applicant graduated from a university where English was
the language of instruction, then this requirement may be waived.
4. Other Certificates
Applicants may upload up to 4 additional certificates that they feel are
relevant in the Other Certificates section of the application (e.g. score
reports of standardized tests such as the GRE, awards, prizes,
certificates etc.)
5. Statement of Intent
Your statement of intent should be 500-1000 words. The statement should
convince the faculty on the selection committee that you have solid
achievements that demonstrate the potential for success in graduate study.
Ideally, it should address the following:
1) Introduction:
Introduce yourself, your interests and your motivations. This section should be
brief and to the point (not an autobiography).
2) Summarize your undergraduate,
and if applicable graduate career.
- a) Research conducted.
Mention with whom, the title of the project, what your responsibilities
were, and the outcome. Write technically, since professors will read your
statement.
b) Significant papers or thesis project you completed, as well as anything
scholarly beyond your curricular requirements.
c) Work experience, especially responsibilities related to your proposed
field of graduate study to which you are applying.
3) Discuss the relevance of your
recent and current activities: If you graduated prior to
applying to graduate school, write about what you have been doing and what you
learned during this time. Explain how this experience helped you to focus on
what you want to do during your graduate studies.
4) Elaborate on your academic
interests: Indicate what you want to study in graduate school
in enough detail to convince the faculty reviewing the application that you
understand the scope of research in their discipline, and are engaged in
current research themes.
- a) Indicate your area of
interests. You may pose a question, define a problem, or specify a theme
that you would like to address, and questions that arise from current
research in the area. This should be addressed clearly and thoroughly.
b) Look on the web at professors and their research. Look specifically for
professors whose research interests are aligned with yours and indicate
it.
c) End the statement in a positive manner, demonstrating your excitement
and readiness for the challenges ahead. - References
Applicants will be asked to provide the names of at least two references
(professors, supervisors, employers, or others able to comment on your
academic performance and suitability for graduate studies. Recommendations
should specifically address your ability to succeed in your proposed
academic program and discuss any experience that may have prepared you to
succeed in the program. Your recommenders will be required to fill out an
online recommendation form which will be automatically requested by
entering their contact details on the application form. You will need to
enter their full name, title, institution and email address.
