to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. Catholic identity is at the heart
of CRS mission and operations.

CRS
started its activities in Rwanda in 1960 and is currently intervening in
different sectors, including Agriculture & Food Security, Nutrition,
Economic Strengthening & Rural Development, Institutional Strengthening and
Peacebuilding. CRS projects are funded by various donors including U.S.
Government agencies, the Dutch Government and CRS private funds. CRS/Rwanda
prioritizes capacity building of local partners through ongoing projects.
CRS
was awarded a five-year USAID project, the Integrated Nutrition and WASH
Activity, “INWA” in partnership with the Netherlands Development Organization,
SNV. INWA was renamed in Kinyarwanda as “GIKURIRO Program”, meaning good
growth; as opposed to stunting. GIKURIRO Program aimed at improving the
nutrition status of the women in reproductive age and under five children with
an emphasis on the 1,000 day window of opportunity from pregnancy until a
child’s second birthday. GIKURIRO focuses on capacity building to relevant
district government structures as well as implementing partners while also
supporting implementation of the Government of Rwanda’s Community-based Food
and Nutrition Policy (CBF&NP) and Community-based Environmental Health
Promotion Program (CBEHPP) in eight districts.
Job
Summary:
The
Program Assistant is responsible for supporting Gikuriro program staff in
organizing program activities (workshop, trainings and field activities) to
allow technical staff to focus on the quality of the program activities.
Specific
Responsibilities:
  • Refer
    to activity budgets prepared by the technical staff and prepare and submit
    activity related requests for goods and services and follow up with the
    procurement staff.
  • Prepare
    and submit activity related requests for short term advances and ensure
    payment of participants’ perdiems and other allowances.
  • Follow
    up on training schedules, tools and materials procurement
  • Coordinate
    with logistics Unit to ensure timely submission of logistics needs for
    field activities.
  • Verify
    justification documents and ensure liquidation of all the expenses.
  • Assists
    with filing for Gikuriro technical documents
  • Keep
    track of activity deadlines and remind respective team members to submit
    results timely
  • Coordinate
    with technical leads of Gikuriro to prepare communication materials
    including newsletters and technical briefs
Other
General support
  • Assists
    in preparation of conferences/workshops
  • Assists
    in data entry when needed
  • Assume
    any other assignments relevant to the position and that might be ascribed
    from time to time by relevant supervisors

Qualifications

    high level integrity, maturity and discretion is a must
  • Sound

  • Attention
    to details and sound level of diligence is desirable
  • Proficiency
    in time management and self-organizational skills
