Agronomist/Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP):
Feed the
Future Rwanda Sustainable Food, Agriculture, and Nutrition Activity
The mission of Global
Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive
and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable
people across the globe. Global Communities is seeking a Senior Agronomist/Deputy
Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID Feed the Future Rwanda
Sustainable Food, Agriculture, and N
utrition Activity.
Summary:
The Senior
Agronomist/Deputy Chief of Party will be responsible for overseeing the
technical implementation of the program under the direction of the Chief of
Party. The program requires implementing and managing climate-smart
agriculture and nutrition programs, on and off the farm, at community and
household levels. Qualified candidates will also need to demonstrate
familiarity with and commitment to addressing (gender) inclusive development and
systems thinking including gender expertise.
Requirements:
Education: Master’s
degree in international development, agriculture/agronomy, environment, or
related field of study.
Experience:
7 years’
professional experience working in developing countries, some of which
should be in Africa, in food security and agronomy in managing or implementing
development programs. Experience with East Africa or Rwanda agriculture sector
is an asset
Knowledge
and Skills:

Solid foundation in a broad range of agriculture subjects preferred, including
areas such as agriculture economics, agriculture policy, agribusiness,
agronomy, agriculture extension, and market development.
·
Familiarity with nutrition sensitive and climate smart agriculture concepts
highly desirable preferred.
·
Experience in designing or managing sustainable agricultural production systems
is preferred.
·
Familiarity with agriculture research integration in project implementation,
and experience working to improve private and public extension systems.
·
Strong verbal and written skills in English are required. Knowledge of French
and Kinyarwanda is an asset.

Excellent communication and writing skills.
