to get ‘more children reading more and better books’. In particular, the

in the country and create a national culture of reading.

consultant shall ensure the completion of the following activities in
accordance with the terms and conditions of the consultancy contract:

- Provide
capacity building opportunities to Rwandan publishers
- Delivering
a training targeting specific skill development such as understanding the
publishing with a particular emphasis on independent publishing,
developing books for young readers in the context of the Eastern Africa
market, managing a publishing house, best approaches of marketing, production-demand
relationship, use of professional network, digital marketing, copyright,
and tax laws - Develop
and finalize the outline of the training
Methodology
- The
consultancy will involve training to take place in Kigali. The training
will be documented in a brief report describing the work undertaken and
the progress or challenges encountered. - The
reference point within SCI will be the Book Development Coordinator with
expected collaboration with RCBI Publishing officer and the SCOPE Book
Development and Use Officer as well as the SCOPE Technical Advisor.

agreement is for a period of 5 days effective from 26th September, 2016 to
30th September, 2016. The consultant is expected to prepare one three day
workshops for a total of 3 training days, with two additional days of
preparation.

- Degree
in publishing, literature, bookselling or a similar field - Experience
in managing book shops and libraries of minimum 10 years - Experience
of minimum 5 years in at least three of the Eastern Africa countries
including Rwanda - Proven
experience delivering trainings to Eastern Africa indigenous and
independent publishers - Knowledge
of Save the Children and its internal processes will be beneficial but is
not essential - Extended
knowledge about the Rwandan book industry and its efforts in promoting the
culture of reading in children - Proof
of experience of working within the publishing industry in Rwanda

This extends not only to children with whom SCI and its partners work directly,
but also includes children whom staff are responsible for. SCI believes
