description
• As an expert
delegate, you are the point of contact on disaster preparedness (DP) &
disaster risk reduction (DRR) for the various parties involved in the program;
• You are
responsible for providing intensive support to the Red Cross societies involved
(directly or indirectly), in term
s of content and technical expertise on
disaster preparedness;
• You are also
responsible for facilitating the knowledge transfer on disaster preparedness
between the three participating partner organizations by assisting them, among
others, in the documentation of lessons learned and good practices, organizing
exchange activities, workshops … All of this in view of enhancing the
disaster preparedness capacity of the three partner organizations and the
colleagues in the Global South and North;
• Besides your role
as a technical expert for all three countries, you will specifically for Rwanda
also be responsible for the management of the different project phases, in
which you will play a supporting and facilitating role towards the partner
National Society. This task will be carried out with the support of the
Disaster Preparedness project delegate (based in Kampala);
• You will,
according to the agreed arrangements, deliver timely and accurate information
to the Project Delegate in view of an effective reporting on the project in
Rwanda;
• You will work very
closely with several colleagues in the different partner countries (BRC- Fl
project delegate in Uganda and country representative in Burundi) and at the
Belgian RC – Flanders headquarters (Mechelen);
• You report
directly to the Head of International Operations.
Your
profile:
- You
possess a Master’s degree or have similar qualifications based on
experience. - You
have at least 7 years of professional experience, of which the
implementation/ monitoring of disaster preparedness programs has been an
essential part. - Your
extensive knowledge on disaster preparedness (DP / DRR) and humanitarian
aid in general make you an expert in this field. - Experience
in international project management is considered an added value. - You
possess a thorough knowledge of the most common software tools (Word,
Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, …). - You
have an excellent knowledge of French and English, both spoken and
written; knowledge of Dutch would be an added value. - You
have knowledge of evidence-based methodology or are motivated to enhance
your knowledge in this field; - You are
a results-oriented problem solver with a strong team spirit and sense of
initiative; - You
have strong communication and negotiation skills combined with the
necessary diplomatic skills; - You
have a driving license; - You are
willing to undertake frequent trips in the region (Uganda, Rwanda,
Burundi).
