Principal
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- In
assigned teacher training college (TTC), support implementation of revised
pre-service curriculum (in line with Rwanda’s new primary grade curriculum
and its approved early grade reading teaching and learning materials). - Support
strengthening of TTC tutor capacity to train teachers in early grade
reading instruction (in line with the Ministry of Education’s new primary
grade curriculum and its approved early grade reading teaching and
learning materials). - Support
TTCs to develop strategies to track, support, and mentor identified newly
qualified teachers of early grade reading. - Work
with TTC tutors to promote instructional practices that support equity in
literacy outcomes among boys, girls, and children with special needs. - Leverage
M&E data collected (likely on an ongoing basis) to inform adjustments
in the project’s approach and ensure continued improvement in pre-service
students ability to promote strong student reading outcomes.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Master’s
degree or equivalent in education (or related field) with minimum of 5
years of experience working in pre-service teacher education in Rwanda (or
similar context), or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education (or
related field) with minimum of 10 years of experience working in pre-service
education (master’s degree preferred).
- Demonstrated
knowledge of Rwanda’s early grade language/reading curriculum,
understanding of effective teaching practices for early grade reading, and
experience working with teachers in Rwanda or a similar context.
- Experience
promoting equity in learning outcomes among boys, girls, and children with
special needs preferred.
- Demonstrated
exemplary diplomatic, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Written
and spoken proficiency in English.
