Summary
Soma
Umenye 
is
a USAID funded project that will work to improve reading outcomes in
Kinyarwanda for at least 1 million children in public and government-aided
schools in Rwanda by the end of Grade 3. Specifically, Soma Umenye will
target all children in

Grades 1-3 attending public and government-aided schools
nationwide and ensure that at least 70 percent of students are able to read
grade-level text with fluency and comprehension by the end of Grade 3.

Principal
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist
    the procurement and logistics specialist with procurement requirements and
    ensure compliance with corporate policies, contractual requirements, US
    Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Agency for International
    Development Acquisition Regulations (AIDAR), and any other applicable
    policies and regulations.
  • Provide
    assistance to all customs and passport/visa/work permit issuance and
    renewals.
  • Support
    in processing and expediting customs and immigration processes.
  • Prepare
    cell phones for new staff and maintain all phone numbers.
  • Support
    maintenance of expendable and non-expendable inventory, including labeling
    and tracking of items.
  • Manage
    the proper handover of any project equipment and maintain record of all
    equipment issues from staff.
  • Arrange
    hotel/guest lodging for field staff and visitors.
  • Organize
    shipment services with freight forwarder as required.
  • Coordinate
    customs clearance for export and import of goods.
  • Perform
    any other appropriate tasks that support the overall project, as assigned
    by the supervisor or his/her designee.
Job
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s
    degree and at least 3 years of progressively responsible related
    experience. A combination of education and work experience may substitute
    for the required degree.
  • At
    least 3 years of applicable technical experience.
  • Prior
    international donor experience required; thorough knowledge of USAID and
    its contractual and reporting requirements preferred.
  • Strong
    organizational and prioritization skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong
    computer spreadsheet and word processing skills.
  • Demonstrated
    exemplary diplomatic, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Written
    and spoken proficiency in English.
Location
of Assignment
The
location of assignment is Kigali, Rwanda with intermittent travel throughout
the country.
