ISA James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Applicants

ISA
invites applications from junior scholars for the James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral
Fellowship. The competition is open to scholars in the social sciences and
humanities who have received their Ph.D. within the past two years, that is,
between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2017. ISA encourages applications from women,
minorities, and citizens of all countries.
The
ISA provides modern educational and research environments that will enable
students and researchers to face current challenges and to focus on knowledge
as a principle driving force for development.

The
International Studies Association (ISA) has been the premier organization for
connecting scholars and practitioners in fields of international studies since
1959. The International Studies Association, in order to promote international
understanding, and provide opportunities for communications among educators,
researchers, and practitioners in order to continually share intellectual
interests and meet the challenges of a changing global environment.

Scholarship
Award:

The 12-month stipend is $50,000 and it does not have an in-residence
requirement. The successful applicant will spend 3/4th time (30 hours per
week) pursuing their research project, and 1/4th time (10 hours per week)
conducting research (remotely) on behalf of ISA. The ISA Executive Director
will supervise the Fellow.

Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.

language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need
to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be
able to study there.
How
to Apply:

All application materials must be submitted electronically
to postdoc-at-isanet.org on or before November 1, 2016.
The
following materials are required for a completed application:
  • A
    cover letter that includes the applicant’s academic field, research topic
    and relevance to International Studies
  • A
    five-page (double-spaced, one-inch margins) research proposal, not to
    exceed 1500 words, including reference.
  • A
    current curriculum vitae
  • Evidence
    of final degree (e.g., official graduate transcript with degree conferral
    date, notarized photocopy of degree, official letter from Registrar’s
    office attesting to issuance of final degree)
  • Official
    graduate transcript or the equivalent (Official graduate transcripts
    should be scanned and emailed to postdoc-at-isanet.org)
  • Two
    confidential letters of recommendation (one of which must be written by
    the dissertation committee chair, the primary dissertation advisor,
    the academic advisor or the equivalent. The dissertation chair/advisor’s
    recommendation letter should verify that the applicant will have completed
    all degree requirements no later than July 1, 2017.).
