U.S. territories. Currently, we are seeking the qualified candidates for the
position of Laboratory Specialist for the anticipated Project funded by
UK Government, that intended to address Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

BASIC
FUNCTION
The
Laboratory specialist will work closely with the Program Team, in strengthening
the capacity of laboratories to diagnose infections and Antimicrobial
Resistance (AMR) and to support the procurement of needed laboratory supplies
and equipment.
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide
    technical assistance to microbiology laboratories and others as needed and
    requested as part of overall capacity building and continuous improvement
    schemes.
  • Assist
    in incorporating laboratory strengthening and clinical microbiology
    laboratory functions and services into their programs.
  • Assists
    with the preparation and delivery of laboratory trainings and training-related
    services particularly with relating to antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
    diagnostic services.
  • In
    close collaboration with laboratory management, support the follow-up of
    needed corrective and preventive actions particularly in relation to AMR.
  • Responsible
    for initiating continuous improvement initiatives upon request to build
    laboratory capacity and quality with reference to accepted standards and
    requirements.
  • Participate
    in Laboratory Interagency Coordinating Committee (Lab ICC) and provide
    valuable contribution.
  • Perform
    other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:
  • Laboratory
    specialist
  • Strong
    microbiology expertise
  • Experience
    in medical laboratory and specifically Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
  • Direct
    experience developing and delivering trainings in Laboratory domain
  • Good
    in both written and spoken English and report writing
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:
  • National
    Diploma, Higher National Diploma or Degree in Medical laboratory sciences.
  • Master’s
    degree will be added advantage
  • At
    least 6 years related work experience
