Position
summary:

In anticipation of a
USAID-funded project to improve human nutrition through enhanced access to
livestock and animal-sources food in Rwanda, Land O’Lakes is seeking a
Nutrition Technical Advisor to oversee the promotion of improved nutrition
knowledge, practices, and status among vulnerable households and to strengthen
programmatic and research linkages between agriculture and nutrition. In close
collaboration with the livestock technical advisor, s/he will develop training
and messaging around increased consumption of animal-sourced foods. S/he will
use innovative approaches to social behavior change communication (SBCC) that
adapt messaging to local contexts. S/he will supervise 5 to 7 field level
nutrition staff.

Reporting
& supervision:

The nutrition
technical advisor will report to the Chief of Party or his/her designee.

Required
skills and qualifications:

  • Master’s
    degree in public health or related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • From 7
    to 10 years of relevant long-term work experience in developing countries,
    experience in Rwanda preferred;
  • Familiarity
    with behavior change communication strategies in support of nutrition
    programs;
  • Experience
    developing training programs and in particular, behavior change communication
    programs and nutrition projects;
  • Significant
    experience conducting trainings, training of trainers, and organizational
    capacity building;
  • Previous
    experience working with and building capacity of community-based
    organizations;
  • Demonstrated
    supervisory experience with teams; and
  • Fluency
    in local language and English.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated
    experience building the capacity of women through agriculture and
    nutrition to make meaningful and impactful decisions for their families to
    improve nutritional outcomes.
