have a range of PhD Scholarships available in partnership with businesses and
organisations
We are committed to
high quality teaching, underpinned by excellence in research. Our research
institutes and centres are well known nationally and internationally. This has
enabled us to collaborate with a wide range of businesses and organisations to
offer themed research scholarships to PhD students.
We will publish any

Fully
funded PhD Studentship in the School of Engineering
At London South Bank
University (LSBU) our applied research tackles real-world issues. We are the
top modern university in London for world-leading and internationally excellent
research in General Engineering (REF 2014) with 80% of this research awarded
the highest quality ratings of 4* or 3* for its ‘impact’ (reach and
significance).
The Schoolof Engineering is inviting applications for a fully-funded PhD Studentship
with industry collaboration. Funding will comprise of a stipend of circa
£15,000 per annum plus UK/EU rate tuition fees.
The purpose of the
research project is the Design, Simulation, Manufacture and Test of a Highly-Boosted
Single-Cylinder Gasoline IC engine. The project may involve 1D and 3D
Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) simulation, design (3D solid modelling,
drafting), instrumentation and experimental testing. The successful applicant
will focus on two or more areas of interest.
Candidates should
normally hold a good degree in Engineering or Science related discipline, a
keen interest in IC engines, and a willingness to engage with the Industry
collaborator working to achieve project deliverables.
How
to apply
Applications must
include the following:
- Cover
letter - Curriculum
vitae (CV) - 1000
word research proposal based on your own literature review which discusses
the challenges in “Developing a Highly-Boosted Single-Cylinder
Gasoline IC Engine”. You should detail which areas from 1D and 3D
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), design (3D solid modelling, drafting),
instrumentation, or experimental engine dynamometer testing you wish to
focus on, and your relevant expertise in these areas.
Applications must be
submitted by email or posted to:
