is a manufacturer of highly nutritious
quality fortified foods. Our nutrition products are intended to address
malnutrition among vulnerable population segments such as pregnant and
breast-feeding mothers, older infants and young children especially in the
first 1,000 days of their life. To this end, we plan to avail on a commercial
scale nutritional products for lifestyle consumer groups in Rwanda and the
whole East African Region.

Purpose
of the job
The
communications manager will correspond with employees and external stakeholders
to keep them informed of company developments. He or she will create strategies
to increase employee awareness and to promote productivity. Externally, he or
she will communicate with the media and other interested parties to announce
new products and discuss organizational changes in a way that attempts to
maintain a positive image of the company.
The
jobholder will also be responsible for managing corporate communications
through events, conventional mass media and digital media.
Key
Responsibilities
The
jobholder will be responsible for performing the following duties:
  • Internally,
    the communications manager will ensure that employees are aware of changes
    and projects within the company. He or she will distribute executive
    messages, prepare presentations and internal memos, and conduct meetings
    to share information. The communications manager may develop print
    materials and branding strategies for employee use.
  • He/she
    will assure that all AIF employees are trained on communication “do’s and
    don’ts”.
  • Externally,
    the communications manager will represent AIF as an organization to
    stakeholders, interested parties and the public. He or she will develop
    and distribute materials that may explain or convey the company’s policies
    or positions on issues.
  • Other
    duties include issuing press releases, arranging interviews and compiling
    press kits.
  • Developing
    an integrated communications strategy and tools for the company
    incorporating PR, Marketing and Online
  • Implementing
    communications plans to increase brand awareness and recognition for
    Africa Improved Foods.
  • Developing
    relationships with key media to secure and grow media coverage both online
    and offline.
  • Monitoring
    press stories relating to Africa Improved Foods and its brand and
    maximizing business opportunities.
  • Collating
    and analysing current communications and messages and ensuring
    consistency.
  • Developing
    and leading AIF’s internal communication strategy.
  • Communicating
    the AIF brand to internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Overseeing
    the annual communications budget and ensuring its use is fully maximized.
  • Continuous
    development and maintenance of the AIF website
Knowledge
and educational level
Educational
level:
  • Bachelor’s
    Degree in Mass Communication, Marketing or any other related field
  • A
    relevant master’s degree would also be an advantage
Required
level of experiences
  • Minimum
    of 3 years professional experience in Public Relations, Public Affairs,
    Corporate Communications
  • A
    proven ability to develop and lead communications strategies
  • Highly
    articulate individual with excellent, written communications and
    presentation skills – both in Kinyarwanda and English – are essential.
  • Affinity
    or experience in identifying target audiences and designing campaigns that
    engage, inform and educate them about AIF products and services.
