partnered with the Government of Rwanda to strengthen the health system and
support poverty reduction initiatives in rural Rwanda since 2005.Through its
service delivery, training, advocacy and research, PIH works globally to bring
the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need and to serve as an
antidote to despair.
PIH operates sites
for clinical care, resea
rch, and training in 10 countries (Haiti,
Peru, Russia, USA-Boston, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Kazakhstan,
Mexico, and the Dominican Republic); and has a growing network of affiliated
organizations and initiatives in several other countries, including Nepal,
Burundi, Mali, Liberia, Guatemala, and Togo. PIH is seeking
experienced professionals to fill the following positions:
Title: Training Manager

Position
Overview
The Training Manager
in the IMB Department of Mentorship, Education, and Training (DMET) works under
the DMET Director to provide administrative support for IMB-wide training
initiatives and build the capacity of the site-based training team to
effectively plan, implement, and evaluate training and mentorship activities.
The Training Manager provides training-related technical assistance and
guidance to IMB programs. This position is in charge of developing clear
training plans, guidelines and processes that enable effective training
implementation. Supports DMET Director in developing and enforcing training
policies and guidelines based on PIH-IMB and national guidelines as well as
international best practice. The Training Manager will be responsible for
guiding development of training administration guidelines and enforcing their
application.
Responsibilities
- Provide
administrative support to trainings implemented at three IMB-sites
(Rwinkwavu, Kirehe, and Butaro). This includes managing the IMB Training
Calendar and overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of
training initiatives together with program leaders and with support from
the site-based training team; - Build
capacity and skills of the training team to effectively plan, implement,
and evaluate both clinical and non-clinical trainings and other capacity
building initiatives. This includes mentoring and overseeing the work of
training team members in the districts; and developing processes, tools,
and structures to effectively train trainers, support training
implementation, and monitor and evaluate trainings and other capacity
building efforts; - Manage
the IMB Training database and support the DMET Director’s efforts to
develop and strategically use monitoring and evaluation systems and tools
in order to improve capacity building materials and site-based training
planning, delivery, and outcomes; - Assist
in managing grant-funded training project budgets in coordination with the
DMET Director, Curriculum Specialist, Program Leaders, Boston training
team Production Manager, Curriculum and Training Manager, Boston-based
Director of Training, and Human Resources, Finance, Development, and
site-based teams; - Together
with the DMET Director provide the leadership and management of the entire
PIH|IMB training team including the SOCOMED training team and ensure that
the team is fully engaged in developing work plans, budgets, reports,
teaching tools to ensure that quality training is provided in a strategic
and planned fashion; - Together
with the DMET Director and HR department ensure that all human resources
functions are fully met and serviced within DMET. Human resources functions
within DMET including developing and delivering direct training to PIH
staff and other groups when appropriate, for example, training of
trainers;
Qualifications
- A
Bachelor’s degree in education, health education, public health or a
related field ( Masters an additional advantage); - At
least 5 years in an administrative role providing support in planning,
implementing, and evaluating different events or initiatives, preferably
training-related programs and projects; - Experience
in developing business plans, work plans and budgets required; - Demonstrated
managerial experience (managing people and program work plans); - Ability
to multitask and manage activities taking place in different geographical
locations with close attention to detail; - Preference
will be given to someone with experience delivering training to a range of
audiences (low literate adults, training of trainers, health
professionals, etc.); - Excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills; written and oral communication
skills; - Demonstrated
ability to interact professionally and be a team player with culturally
diverse staff, clients, and consultants; - Experience
with computer applications and Internet research; - Experience
living and working in resource-poor settings; - Proficiency
in Kinyarwanda and English required; proficiency in French preferred; - Commitment
to social justice and health care issues;
