quality fortified foods. Our nutrition products are intended to address
malnutrition among vulnerable population segments such as pregnant and
breast-feeding mothers, older infants and young children especially in the
first 1,000 days of their life. To this end, we plan to avail on a commercial
scale nutritional products for lifestyle consumer groups in Rwanda and the
whole East African Region.

Purpose
of the job
The
Laboratory Analyst is responsible for performing day to day control of samples
for quality inspection and provides support to production technicians.
Interaction
is required with development management and staff, client services, and product
management.  
Key
Responsibilities
  • Evaluation
    of incoming raw materials, in process and finished products and reporting
    conformity and non-conformity parameters to the immediate supervisor or
    other mandated authorities.
  • Assessing
    hygiene status of the testing equipment and factory environment so as to
    ensure quality and safety of the products.
  • Assisting
    in solving analytical related problems or putting up precautions/preventive
    measures.
  • Identification
    of various microbial floras on processing factors (Man, Machine and
    Materials) and processing environment.
  • Application
    of good laboratory practices as per quality and safety guidelines.
  • Preparation
    and handling of reference standards, reagents and working reagents as
    necessary before use and during testing.
  • Safe
    and responsible handling and storage of equipment, standards, chemicals
    and glassware used for testing and analytical procedures.
  • Care,
    regular maintenance and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of laboratory
    facility and equipment.
  • Preparation
    of test reports and certificates of analysis, and forwarding them to the
    QC Specialist
  • Ensuring
    the security of the laboratory belongings so as to avoid unnecessary
    breakages and losses.
  • In
    time identification and requisition of equipment, chemical and consumables
    needed in the laboratory.
  • Daily,
    weekly and incidence report to QC specialist.

Knowledge
and educational level
Educational
level:
  • Bachelor
    Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or any related field
  • Good
    communication skills, conversant in English, French will be an added
    advantage
  • Familiar
    with ERP Systems
  • Documentation
    verification, clerical procedures
Required
level of experiences
  • Minimum
    experience of one (1) year in Food industry.
  • Basic
    knowledge in Quality Control processes
  • Awareness
    in setting up experiments or investigations
  • Experience
    in carrying out risk assessment for lab activities
  • Mastering
    required processes in collecting and  analysing  samples
  • Very
    good experience in disposing of chemicals and waste products in a safe way
  • Result
