AVEGA-AGAHOZO,
the Rwandan Association of Genocide Widows (Association des Veuves du Génocide
AGAHOZO)

a not for profit organization established in January 1995 through the
initiative of 50 widows survivors of the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the
Tutsis in Rwanda, whose mission is to work for progress, empowerment and
reintegration of widows and orphans of the Genocide by improving their socio
economic status and promoting solidarity, justice and peace. It was given the
legal status through

Ministerial Order No. 156/05 of 30th October 1995.

VACANCY
ANNOUNCEMENT

AVEGA-AGAHOZO,

AVEGA interventions
are carried out through its priority programs, namely: emergency assistance,
medical care (physical and mental health), advocacy, housing, justice,
education, information, memory, income generating activities, and institutional
capacity building.

In addition to its
head office located in Remera, Kigali, AVEGA operates countrywide through five
regional offices. It also manages two health centers and two guest houses.

Now AVEGA wishes to
recruit an Administrative
Assistant
to the AVEGA Executive Secretary.

Key tasks:

Under the
supervision of the Executive Secretary, the incumbent shall:

a)     
Devise and maintain office systems, including data management and filing;

b)     
Deal with incoming mail (post, faxes, emails) often corresponding on behalf of
the Executive Secretary;

c)      
Screen phone calls, enquiries and requests and handle them when appropriate;

d)     
Take notes or dictation at meetings and provide general assistance during
presentations;

e)     
Organize meetings and ensure the Executive Secretary is well prepared for them;

f)      
Meet and welcome visitors at all levels of seniority;

g)     
Carry out background research and present findings;

h)     
Produce documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations;

i)       
Organize and maintain diaries and make appointments for the Executive Secretary
and other senior staff;

j)       
Arrange travel, visas and accommodation for the Executive Secretary and other
senior staff;

k)     
Liaise and communicate with AVEGA members, partners, supplies and staff, and
share with them activity reports and other information to enhance good working
relationship and partnership;

l)       
Preserve the values and good image of the Association;

m)   
Draft and submit to the Executive Secretary monthly, quarterly and annual
reports;

n)     
Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Secretary that contribute to
the good management of the Association.

Desired
qualities:

AVEGA is seeking for
a self-driven, high achiever who has a proven track record in a similar
position. He/she should demonstrate drafting and other secretariat and
communication skills, in addition to leadership, organizational and human
resource relationship capabilities and high level analytical, team work and
interpersonal skills. He/she should be fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and
French. Knowledge of other languages is an asset. Computer literacy and a
minimum of 3 years relevant working experience are required.

Education:

At least A1 diploma
in secretariat, communication, business administration and/or management,
commerce, accounting or any other related fields.
